Rajan Universal Exports (Mfrs) Pvt. Ltd., traces its origin through an established and reputed trading Company. "Rajan Trading Company" now a Private Limited Company. The Company has become a major manufacturer and exporter of Agricultural Machineries.
The exports touched Rs. 37.5 million in the year 1981-92. The export turnover during that year represented 1/3 rd of the total Engineering exports from Southern Region of India in the small-scale sector. Now the turnover for the year 1998-99 is Rs. 125.61 million. The Company has three well-equipped Factories with 310 workers in the sprawling complex of more than 3,500 Sq. mtrs. in the City, manufacturing more than 85 agro industrial machineries, food-processing machineries and more than 40 agricultural implements. Rajan is the first and the only firm to export Transportation Vehicles such as Cycle Rickshaws, School Children Coach. Food Stuff Carriers, Loose Cargo and Load Carriers to Europe and U.S.A. and these are very much suitable for African Countries as well. The Company have been exporting since 1953 to more than 30 countries such as Nigeria, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Gabon, Senegal, Mali, Benin, Togo, Tanzania, Uganda, Zaire, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Ethiopia, South Africa, Kenya, Liberia, Cameroon, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Nicaragua, Papua New Guinea, Sri Lanka etc. The Company has been catering to the requirements of United National Organisations like UNICEF, UNIFIL, UNDP, FAO and World Bank aided programmes. During the year 1980, the company received a substantial order from the United Nation Forces with an Advance Remittance of US$. 604,160 /-. This unique achievement has been applauded by Government of India, Quassi-Governmental Organisations, as well as their bankers State Bank of India, Overseas Branch, Chennai (India). Advance payments not only from United Nations Organisations US$. 5,843,477.66 but also from other importers from all over the world to the tune of US$. 2,852,338.31 are a recurring phenomena for nearly two decades. The Company has been the winner of EEPC's (Engineering Export Promotion Council of India) Awards and Shields since 1971 to till date for its "Outstanding Export performance" and had won the Govt. of India "National Award" twice on 1981-82 and 1992-93 respectively for its "Export Excellence". The nerve centre for the business activities is the corporate building (Raj Buildings) at the heart of the city, commissioned for its operation in the year 1982. |
